As my own family has grown and my daughter keeps celebrating birthdays, I find myself being drawn more and more to capturing images of children on their own and with their parents. As one dad said to me, “Sometimes the days can be really long, but the years go by so fast!” Often times, parents are caught up in the day to day and don’t have the chance to capture the fleeting moments of childhood. When I shoot children’s portraits or family portraits, I like to start off working candidly. I start off just chatting with you as your kids get used to me; when they’re comfortable, I start shooting and grab some shots of all of you playing and having a good time. From there, we’ll move into some more traditional portraits, but as always, I keep things casual and as a result, you’ll get beautiful, relaxed photographs.
